Our female black poodle, Lucy. She is completely black – even what I call blue/black. She is a beauty in every way a standard poodle should be. She is on the small side of standard and weighs about 35 lbs. Lucy is a great companion. Wherever we are, she is right behind us or at our feet. She is Dave’s dog, technically, as he got her for Christmas in 2005 but she really belongs to all of us. She has expressive eyes that really can make you melt. She obeys our commands “most” of the time. She gave us a run for our money when she was a puppy (we got her older, adopted sister, Summer as an adult so we had never had a “standard puppy”). Since they are so intelligent it makes them even more inquisitive than other breeds. You really need to keep challenging them with new things to do, new places to go, new smells to smell – you get the message. Lucy has grown into a loving and caring friend to all of us. One of her favorite places is to get in my lap when I have the feet up on my recliner. She really actually enjoys getting brushed. She has been a great mother from day one. We are so very proud of the way she takes care of every need, never tiring, never losing her patience like us humans do! Her puppies are never wanting for attention or affection. Please enjoy some photos of Lucy, Grace and Summer below.
